STEP8IGHT is the clothing label of creator and former radio DJ Chan Phei Yong, run by CMAKER FASHION SDN. BHD. out of Petaling Jaya.
Phei Yong once wrote down a list of milestones for his thirties. Starting a label was number eight. The first ready-to-wear piece was an oversized reversible blazer: logos out for the party version of yourself, plain side for the calm one. He has said that personal style is how you tell people who you are.
That idea runs through every drop since. Each release gets a number and a name: The Begin, Project 260 (with car-part details), Retro, Jiàn for Chinese New Year, Like Father Like Son, Twinkle, Careless Care Less, Loaded Rooted, Sm∞rt, R∞tine, Cycl8, M8te, Playmod8, Sp8tlight, and now LOV8. M8TE (2025) included pieces co-branded adidas | STEP8IGHT.
In 2025 the label added STEP8IGHT Plus, a scent lab whose formulas are named after paintings. Plus also has a car pod line and a ritual kit made with Cuckoo.
